There are many different types of investors, which we have broken down into three simple categories – casual investor, experienced investor and high net worth investor.
In order to invest in a start-up business on the RAISED platform, you will need to self-certify as one of the following investors:
1. A Casual Investor
A casual investor will be new to investing and will not invest more than 10% of their net assets into company shares.
‘Net assets’ – meaning all their financial income after expenses and any debts.
Before investing, a casual investor must be aware that investing in start-up companies is extremely high risk.
2. An Experienced Investor
An experienced investor will have already invested in more than one unlisted company in the last two years or be/have been a member of a business angel network/investment group in the past six months.
They will currently/or will have been in the past two years, a director of a company with an annual turnover of at least £1 million.
3. A High Net Worth Investor
To qualify as a high net worth investor you will have invested in at least one unlisted company in the past two years and earn over £100k a year or have net assets of more than £250k.
